        <title>Introducing the Guild Clash</title>

        <description><![CDATA[This is the first take on a new guild versus guild feature. We designed something with no timers, something that rewarded guilds who work as a team, with prizes you can work toward whether you win or lose. Your creature army matters, but the important thing is that you try - because used strategically, every guild member’s squad can make a difference. <br /><p>We have plans for additional strategic elements in the future, but this is the start!</p><br /><p>You are eligible to participate in the Guild Clash if you have at least three creatures of each color, are level 12, and belong to a guild. That guild must have at least four people participating in order to start the Clash.</p><h3 data-id="structure">Structure</h3><br /><p>A Clash is three days long:</p><br /><ul><li><p>One preparation day, where you can choose three unique defensive squads and look over your opponent. You won’t be able to see the opponent’s defensive squads until you meet them in combat. Guild members who do not join during the prep phase may not participate in the challenge. The AI will choose defensive squads for guild members who do not choose during the prep phase.</p></li></ul><br /><ul><li><p>Two challenge days, where your guild will work together to take down the opposing guild.</p></li></ul><br /><p>There are several components when it comes to matchmaking: Total Hero Level, where we just add up the Hero Levels of everyone who has participated, and where your guild ranks on the Guild Dungeon leaderboard. The Hero Level total plays a bigger role for most guilds, and the leaderboard element plays a bigger role the further up the rankings you go. The last important factor with matchmaking is the number of opted-in players. If you can’t participate, the best thing for your guild is not to join the clash - just be a spectator.</p><br /><p>When the challenge days begin, you survey all the people in the enemy guild and choose one to attack. (The AI will play defense for you when the other guild attacks. You control all the moves when you are attacking.) You are trying to bring that player’s Embla down to zero points. Even if you don’t succeed during your turn, the defending player’s points persist from attack to attack and do not reset (unless there’s a wipe - more on that later). As an attacker, your hit points reset after each attack.<span><br /><br /></span></p><p>Each guild member gets seven attacks. You may use them all at once, or over the course of the two fighting days. Your creatures become exhausted after use when you are attacking, but your defense squads never get exhausted.</p><br /><p>Let’s say that Ratatosk starts out with 100 points. You begin the challenge with an attack on Ratatosk and do 75 points of damage with your four chosen creatures. Afterwards, those creatures are now exhausted until the end of the challenge, and you have six attacks remaining. You may now go after Ratatosk with four new creatures and attempt to finish off that crazy squirrel...or leave the 25 remaining points for someone else in your guild to attempt. No one else in your guild can attack Ratatosk while you are fighting him. Once you’ve brought Ratatosk to zero, his second defense squad will appear. Once you and your friends have killed poor Ratatosk three times, he will stay dead until his whole guild is wiped out.</p><br /><p>The members of the most successful guilds will work closely together to decide who should attack whom, and when.</p><br /><p>To get credit for each duel, you must complete the duel. Don’t close the game! The damage you did will not be saved. (You should still get _participation_ credit, though, so if your wifi goes out, at least you won’t miss out on that at the end of the Clash.)</p><br /><br />]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<p>Welcome to update day, Solgardians!</p><br /><p>If you want all the details, a lot of it is here in the forum! We’ve shared quite a lot over the last few months, and we’d like to welcome you to the community. Lots of people are eager to help you plan out strategies, and brainstorm new ideas.</p><br /><p>Here’s a summary of the updates we’ve made to the game:</p><br /><ul><li><p>Brand new creature tier: The Mythicals! These creatures are the next level past the Legendary tier. Even the gods of Solgard have created apparitions of themselves to fight at your side.</p></li><li><p>Game modes and rarities. We have enhanced all of our game modes - Bounty Hunts, Treasure Caves, the Underworld, the Dungeons, Hero Arena, and Hero Challenge. Players can now battle with all the exciting and different tiers of creatures!</p></li><li><p>Creature redistribution. We have updated the creatures so there are an even number of creatures in each tier, and each tier has the appropriate amount of power.</p></li><li><p>Conversion tokens. We have given all Solgardians a heap of currency tokens (based on their gameplay progression) in order to customize creature abilities/ranks to suit new strategies.</p></li><li><p>Idol system updates and tokens. We have updated the idol system and provided all Solgardians with idol tokens to use on building new and improved idols.</p></li><li><p>Experience curve enhancements. Embla is now affected by the strength of the army she fights behind, and the number of experience points she needs to advance in each level has been changed. </p></li><li><p>Dust system update. Instead of colors, dust now comes in rarities. </p></li></ul><br /><p>We are constantly enhancing Legend of Solgard with new features, modes, creatures, and concepts.         <title>The Blót Festival</title>

        <description><![CDATA[<div>The Blót Festival is the way by which we heroes of Solgard offer tribute to the beasts and gods. By our efforts, we earn rewards.</div><div><br /></div><div>(By the way, in Swedish, “blót” is pronounced as if it rhymed with “boot” or “Groot.” Please feel free to comment on this document with Groot memes to help all the English speakers remember how to say the Festival name.)</div><h3 data-id="how-is-the-festival-organized">How is the Festival organized?</h3><div>Remember the Boss Arena? That mode is the ancestor of the Festival you’ll see in the next update.</div><div><br /></div><div>Each Festival has four Phases of one week each. Each Phase has four sections, each with a miniboss and culminating in a World Boss. Phase One is you fighting through the World One minibosses, culminating in the Midgard World Boss, Nidhogg. Phase Two is you going through the World 2 (Jotunheim) minibosses, ending up with Rungnar. Phase Three is Vanaheim, and Phase 4 introduces Helheim enemies.</div><div><br /></div><div>Once a Phase is unlocked and you’ve beaten the boss of the section, you may play it over and over again to try and improve your high score, as well as access the bonus score modes. Even after a new phase is unlocked, you can go back to any of the old ones. You can’t skip ahead to the later phases, though. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>You may join the Festival at any point while it is running, as long as you’re at least level 10. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Note to our newer players: You have to have defeated the boss in the campaign to play against that boss in the Festival. So, for example, if I’ve only defeated the miniboss at 110 in the campaign, then I can fight in the Festival up to the third miniboss in Phase Three -- but go no further until I unlock more minibosses/world bosses in the main campaign. Anyone who has completed all 160 levels in the campaign will have access to every part of the Festival.</div><div><br /></div>As in the Hero Challenge, creatures become exhausted after doing battle on your behalf, and need time to rest up. This timer isn’t connected to other modes, of course, and your creatures can be refreshed with Festival play passes. It is definitely to your advantage to have a broad army of creatures and to make strategic decisions about when to play them. Any damage done counts toward defeating the bosses.<br /><br /><span><b><i>Come back Monday, 7-October, to learn more about scoring, rewards, and more.         <description><![CDATA[<div><div><div>We have made these changes in the game - because they're direct changes and not part of the patch process, I don't have patch notes, but they're important enough that I wanted to post something! <br /></div><div><br /></div><div> <b>Gold</b>  </div><div>We have made a change to how gold flows to you, and when that flow happens over the course of your journey through Solgard.</div><div><br /></div><div>Our original design relied heavily on the Campaign mode, and we want to shift that focus to the repeatable Bounties and Treasure Hunts.   By shifting the gold from the Campaign (reducing gold in the level/chest rewards in Worlds 2, 3, and 4) to the Bounties, it should have a minimal impact on our new friends still moving through the Campaign, and ease the pinch for our old friends. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Rare Bounties will see level reward increases of 25%. Epic, 50%. Legendary, 66%. Mythical, 25%. Chest for beating a Gang will see an increase somewhere between double and triple the old quantities. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Gold rewards from Rare, Epic, and Legendary Treasure Hunts will increase by 75%, and increase by 25% for the Mythical. Rewards for beating a tier for the first time will increase by 50% to 100%. <br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Finally, for players whose Hero Level is over 35, the Bounty and Treasure Hunt rewards have an additional extra boost.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Hero Challenge Changes</b></div><div>Effective as soon as the next Challenge starts (0500 CET on Saturday, 22-Feb), we are tuning the matchmaking parameters for Hero Challenge to where all players should be able to find opponents of a power level they can defeat at all stages of the Hero Challenge. (If you were lucky enough not to have this problem, you should not notice a change.)</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Hero Arena</b></div><div>We heard the feedback about people feeling like they needed to deliberately lose, because the top rewards in lower leagues were better than the lower rewards in higher leagues...which of course meant people in lower leagues got locked out of the top prizes in their league! We hope this addresses that madness.</div><div><br /></div><div>These things kick in with the next Hero Arena season:</div><ul><li>We have adjusted the requirements for shifting between leagues, to make sure staying in a league appropriate to your power level is more rewarding than dropping down. Then, we’re overhauling those rewards.</li><li>Victory awards (those awarded via milestones on the progress bar) in the lower leagues (Apprentice through Expert II) have been improved.</li><li>The score required to reach all the milestone rewards has been slightly reduced. The improved win rate, together with reduced score requirements, are expected to increase the rewards obtained from Hero Challenge for most players.</li><li>We have changed the reward levels so that the lowest reward in a higher league is better than the highest reward in a lower league. In Legend League, this means the rewards for every position below third place will be better. In Grandmaster III, we’ve reduced the rewards for the top ten, but increased the rewards for everyone else. Grandmaster II sees the most changes, with big reductions for the top ten (no way to soft pedal that, sorry) and small reductions for the top 500. Below that will see an improvement.</li><li>Finally, the reward contents have been changed. We want to increase the amount of currency players can be earning from Hero Arena early on. We are increasing Epic Hero Arena currency rewards in all leagues, particularly early on. All leaderboard positions in the season end rewards now also include an amount of gems in addition to Hero Arena currency and chest keys.</li><li>As players move up the leagues, their rewards start shifting towards Legendary and Mythical currency. We would like players to continue to be able to use Epic and Legendary currency on a regular basis, and are therefore significantly increasing the rewards in Grandmaster I and above. <br /><br />TLDR: Being in your proper league for your power, should, once taking into account your daily rewards and milestones as well as the end of season rewards, be more rewarding than ever before. As with all things in the living world of Solgard, we are always watching and making adjustments, so I look forward to hearing your thoughts once you’ve given this stuff a test drive.</li></ul></div></div><br />]]>

These tokens can be exchanged for chest keys in the shop, under the redeem tab.</li><li>We have a free gift in this update for everyone who may be playing more than usual - 100 energy, 100 HA play passes for those of you who have unlocked that mode (level 8+).</li></ul><div>Hero Changes</div><ul><li>The three choices of opponents in Hero Challenge now cover a wider (and at the higher tiers, a slightly lower) power range.</li><li>Opponent buffs in Hero Arena should now reflect more recently attained buffs, and should work in a more predictable way</li></ul><div>Creature changes</div>We’ve made a number of changes to creatures (see below for details), and in the case of Elderling and Anuraxe, the changes were significant enough that we wanted to give you some resources to spend on strategic adjustments. Please look under the store tab for packages called “Creature Resources.” They are free, and what’s in the packages depends on what ranks your Elderling and Anuraxe had achieved.<ul><li>Big (2x2) units no longer provide a hidden +5% block &amp; crit chance</li><li>Moonmage’s absorption skill is no longer triggered on sunburst</li><li>We fixed Elderling so that his attack is no longer piercing. We improved his strength, as well.</li><li>Fixed an issue where Ragnarooster’s Cockadoodle ability would affect friendly units with 0 wait</li><li>Fixed an issue where Cage Wight’s “Cage in, Cage out” ability would trigger even when locked</li><li>Fixed a bug where Kraken’s wait ability would occasionally skip a target to hit a unit further back</li><li>Fixed an issue where Anuraxe could use his ability to deal damage multiple times within the same turn to 2x2 units</li><li>Fixed an issue where Bearserker’s attack ability would not deal additional damage to the first unit he strikes</li><li>Fixed an issue where Bearseker’s attack ability provided Bearserker with more strength than intended</li><li>Fixed an issue where Bearserker and Roughpaw could provide a block buff &amp; strength to units who were just about to attack</li><li>Fixed an issue where units who were hurt just as they grew in strength would not reflect the damage they took</li><li>Fixed an issue where the pre-game screen would not show the proper Hero Stats when the unit picker was open</li></ul><div>Other</div><ul><li>Treasure Cave difficulty has been re-balanced and should provide a smoother difficulty curve.         <title>Grand Chest Revamp, 28-Feb</title>

To see it in action, please get the update and install it.</div></div><div><div><br /></div></div><div><div>The Grand Chest now uses controlled random, or "pity mechanics," which improve chances of high value rewards until they happen. (We are also adding another level to the Grand Chest. Level 12 will now be the first time the Grand Chest upgrades (rares are removed from the possible options in the Grand Chest at that point). Hero level 28 will be the next time the chest odds undergo a change to weight the results more toward Legendary and Mythicals.)</div></div><div><div><br /></div></div><div><div>We will start everyone off on this new Grand Chest system by using the “pity mechanics” -- as if you had opened twenty chests without getting any Mythicals. So, for example, if you are over hero level 12, you will see a +2% improvement to your base chances to get Mythicals (for a total of 5%).</div></div><div><div><br /></div></div><div><div>In addition to improving your chances per rarity as you open chests, you will also see improving chances to unlock the bigger piles of Legendary and  Mythical gems, if your first pile is the small one.         <title>Creature Conversion Plans</title>

Questions about dust and gems will be addressed in a future post!</div><div><br /></div><div>CREATURE CONVERSION</div><div><br /></div><div>We broke down the number of “steps” involved in maxing out a creature in the old system, and to the best of our ability, determined where that much effort (in time, in gem slots, in gold, etc) would put that creature in the new system. </div><div><br /></div><div>But it wasn’t even that simple. With common creatures, which now have fewer gem slots, you may find that your creatures are now “maxed” where they weren’t before, and we want you to take the leftover effort and put it elsewhere. And a creature who was maxed out in a lower tier is not maxed out in a higher tier, even though you put in a lot of effort. Rare creatures have a new additional rank, now. Legendary creatures that were maxed out may not quite be maxed out in the new system.</div><div><br /></div><div>We’ve addressed all of these discrepancies by trying to “make up the difference” with conversion currency.</div><div><br /></div><div>CONVERSION TOKENS - CREATURE</div><div><br /></div><div>Our goal here was to recognize the effort you invested into your existing creatures, to thank you for that, and to give you ways to redistribute some of your effort according to any new strategies you might want to try. We tried to make sure you would have options to customize your creatures after the update, and that you would feel like you came out ahead.</div><div><br /></div><div>The specific number of creature conversion tokens is being calculated with a lot of different factors in mind. It’s impossible to lay out all the details,  but broadly, the amount you get per creature will vary depending on how easy or hard the creature was to get, and how easy it will be to get going forward. Abilities are now divided into groups of levels called “elevations.” You can use your gold and dust to upgrade abilities within the whole base elevation, even if if your creature is only Rank 1 or Rank 2. You will have to increase a creature’s rank to unlock all the ability levels, similar to the original design. To access the next ability elevation, you will need to use runes.  help!</p><p> Here are the notes:</p><p> * New BlótFestival event is in the queue, featuring everyone's favorite eldritch horror: Kraken! The event is currently scheduled to kick off on 17-November.</p><div><p>&#13;
 * New Featured Creature: Rock Gronch will be the first boosted creature&#13;
 in the Kraken Blót, so if you still need to improve him, he’s featured &#13;
in your Hero Challenge this week. The way it should work is that &#13;
everyone should finish this HC season as normal, and he should be &#13;
featured in the season starting on Wednesday. (And if you’re curious, &#13;
the next three featured creatures will be, in order, Foulsprite, &#13;
Vinebeard, and Sun Blade.)</p><p> * New creatures: Blazelin (rare), &#13;
Grizzletoof (legendary), Wispwight (legendary), Kraken (mythical) and &#13;
Elderling (mythical) have been added to the game. Kraken is an &#13;

I realize that some of it will not make sense without the entire series, so bear in mind, when I’m done, you’ll have posts about Idols, Creature Conversion, Dust and Gems, and Dungeons. I can only post things that are through the testing process, so, please be patient with us while we finalize everything!)<br /><br />IDOLS</div><div>The idols have been significantly overhauled. In addition to the major changes to the whole idol system (idols retained their names and some qualities, but there’s no 1:1 correlation between the old versions and the new), we were also looking at such a wholesale change in the creatures that we knew everyone would want to make at least some changes.</div><div>So, we’ve gone with the nuclear option. All idols will be removed and destroyed. (Do not panic! How we make that up to you will be in the next section!)</div><div>Here is how the new system works. In order to create an idol, you will need:</div><ul><li>Molds<br /></li><li>Cores (rarity based)<br /></li><li>Materials (now in only two flavors, “sun” or “moon”)<br /></li><li>Minerals (also rarity based)<br /></li></ul><div>Minerals themselves come in two types:</div><ul><li>“Type A,” found through regular gameplay, and available in all rarities.<br /></li><li><div>Type B, found primarily through special events, and themselves available in four specialities:<br /></div><ul><li>Generic, all rarities<br /></li><li>Attacker, legendary/mythical rarities<br /></li><li>Defender, legendary/mythical<br /></li><li>Supporter, legendary/mythical<br /></li></ul></li></ul><div>So, for example, in the new system there might be a new Rare Sun Tyr mold, one that would look good on a defender. To make the idol, this mold asks for one common core, four rare cores, two rare (type A) minerals, twelve sun materials, and some amount of gold. A Legendary Moon Tyr would require three epic cores, six legendary cores, five legendary Type A minerals, one legendary Defender mineral, and 110 moon materials.</div><div>By the way, a feature of the new system will be that when you dismantle an idol, it will give you back cores that are one level higher in rarity. Dismantle a legendary idol, get mythical cores!</div><div>Finally, idols now have both rarity and rank associated with them. A common creature can only use common idols, etc. And your creature’s rank must be equal to or higher than that of the idol you attach to it.</div><div>IDOL CONVERSION TOKENS</div><div>Once we decided on the nuclear option, it was time to do math. With our calculations, we have taken into account the rarity of the old molds, the number of materials you needed to create old idols, the rarity of the old materials themselves, what you had stockpiled, and more. The result: You will get a pile of idol conversion tokens in exchange for your old stuff. The conversion store will not necessarily have the same number of molds that existed in the original design. The new molds are in many cases more powerful than before.</div><div>The store (the general shop will have five tabs after the update, and the conversion tab is the one where you spend conversion currency) will offer all of the components in the new system. Again, there’s no direct correlation between the old system and the new. If you had twenty idols before the change, I can’t say how many idols you’ll have in the new. But we did try our best to ensure that you came out of the change with enough to get the same amount of _power_ (which, again, might not be the same raw number of idols) as before, if not more.</div><div>We have been testing the conversion with a small group of actual players, not paid focus groups or company employees. Because we’re still working on the changes, I can’t give you exact numbers.         <description><![CDATA[<div> I know our regulars have seen most of this in bits and pieces as I chat with people in the comments, but it’s time to make sure everyone has seen it. And it’s time to give you a head start on planning your armies for the update.<br /></div><div>You know we've been revamping the game to focus on different lanes for different rarities, so that in most game modes, legendaries fight legendaries as opposed to running roughshod over common creatures. The next step in this plan involves adding more legendaries to the game (along with increasing drop rates for their gems and increasing ways to get them in general). <br /></div><div>It’s much more than just legendaries, though. We also need to make ALL the creatures suit all the new rarity-gated modes. So once we push the changes to the Underworld and the Arena Challenge live (that update is in testing now), it will be time to bring you the creature revamp. <br /></div><div>We've redistributed the original creatures among the four rarity types. In order to accomplish an even mix without swamping you with too many new creatures, we’ve made some changes to the existing army. Some creatures changed “type” or “race” so we could have the proper balance for the type-limited challenges. Some creatures changed rarity, some going up and some going down. That was done not to buff or boost a particular character, but strictly because we needed, say, a particular color’s damage type in a rarity where one or none had been before. <br /></div><div>We have invented a few new creatures in order to start you off with exactly the same number of creatures in each of the original four rarities. Unlike past new creature releases, however, we will not be doing that thing where the new ones have a much greater chance to drop. All drop rates are subject to adjustment, however. Nor do we have special events with scorcher stones. The creatures listed below will all just appear, as normal. (We will be bringing back special events once the upheaval is behind us.) <br />We will be adjusting individual creatures to suit their new roles before the launch, but the smaller adjustments will rightfully wait until the major update is in your hands -- so we can adjust based on how you actually play, not how we think you’re going to play. We also already have plans for new creatures that address some of the strategic gaps. Please, think of this as a starting point, not an ending point.<br /></div><div>I know the new lineup, and I’ll post it below so you can start thinking about your strategic choices going forward. <br /></div><div>I also know you have lots of questions about HOW we’re going to handle the conversion...and I can’t answer them today. There are multiple factors to consider, all involving your investment. We know you’ve spent time, money, or both on your creatures. We know that if you’re still here after all the changes we’ve made, you may have a certain emotional investment as well. We are considering a lot of possible scenarios, and we’re going to be running our final choices past a group of actual players (not a focus group or a bunch of paid evaluators) before we put this live. <br /></div><div>The revamps are almost over. <p><span>So it’s been a while since our last big update and no doubt you’re wondering “What in the name of Niflheim is going on?”. Well just to be clear, it’s nothing to do with an uncontrollable frost issue, or an OP Rock Gronch running wild in the office. It’s much simpler than that.</span></p>
<p><span>We’ve had a few things in the game that needed to be addressed and fixed to help make the next update our best yet. </span></p>
<p><span>Now to the fun part and a couple of sneak peeks. </span><span>Anyone interested in a new Legendary creature?</span></p>

Sort by rarity and power, with filters for type/role/color.<br />- Changes to the Guild Dungeons to make the mode faster, more rewarding, and more fun.<br />- Fixed Crystal UI to display damage done to that specific crystal. We’ve aimed to make the mode faster paced, more rewarding, and to give more treasure to more people, especially those in newer or smaller guilds.</div><div><br /></div><ul><li>Better rewards across the board</li><li>Fewer hit points for bosses and crystals and so more damage done by you!</li><li>End-of-season chests for the top 2000 guilds, instead of the top 1000</li><li>Shorter seasons so you can win more chests and gain more rewards</li></ul>More details will be released soon. <li>New Event: Hero Challenge. Bring 12 creatures into Bouts against your opponents. Win Bouts to earn points toward rewards!</li>
<li>Guild Store/Currency: Earn guild currency by helping your guild. Spend your earnings in the Guild Store.</li>
<li>New rare creature: <span>Glowbuck</span>! Event begins 24-Dec.</li>
<li>New common creatures: <span>Bog Mage</span> and <span>Croaker</span>. Event begins 4-Jan.</li>
