Post-update idol conversion

After the update I'm left with about 3k idol conversion stones. Should I spend all my stones to get the best set for my best Legendary, or spread them out to equipment my top 4 legendaries with common/rare idols?

From what I have read you can only use legendary idols on Legendaries
